Solo and Ensemble Commitment Form
Our Solo and Ensemble contest will be held on Saturday, March 5 at Dan F. Long this school year.
Fees for the contest will be collected
later and will be assessed as follows:
Entry fee is $5 per student/per event.
(If you play a solo AND an ensemble it will be $10 for entry fees. If two
students play an ensemble together, it will be $5 each student.)
Wind solos require piano accompaniment and the accompanist fee will be $25 if you use the accompanist provided. You may secure your own accompanist, but don’t wait. Also, your private teacher may be willing to play your accompaniment. If so, talk to them about their fee. (So, to play a solo you will have to pay $5 entry fee plus $25 for the pianist.)
Students who perform in this contest are
awarded medals with ribbons attached for their performances. Students
receive medals based on how well they perform. Those receiving a first
division (best) get blue ribbon with a gold medal. A second division
earns a red ribbon with a silver medal.
Our students have done very well at this
event every year and have had a lot of fun too. Please return the form
below. Please understand that signing below assures a time slot for you
and commits you to paying the necessary fees, preparing a piece and performing.
It is very important that you look at your calendar before making this decision
and choose a block of time that will work with your schedule.
Private lesson instructors will help students pick an appropriate solo/ensemble.
Return this form to your band director by Feb. 3 (Thur). An additional form will be used to enter the exact event, title of music, etc.
YOU MAY KEEP THIS PART.
RETURN THIS PART.
I commit to paying the fees associated with my entry into the solo and ensemble contest on Saturday, March 5 at Dan F. Long and understand that a time slot will be reserved for me.
