MAY 26, TUESDAY - SPRING CONCERT (Symphonic/Concert)

Dan F. Long Competition Gym, 7:30pm.

May 19, Tuesday - Audition tapes due from ALL 6th & 7th grade band members.  Remember to turn in a symphonic application if you are interested.  Also, school instruments should be returned.  (You will still have access to the instruments, but they must be in the band hall for inventory and repair checks.)

May 29, Friday - Pool party for band/choir/orchestra (more details below).

May 16, Saturday - 8th graders attending NSHS will have a introductory marching camp & picnic to prepare for next year.

May 21, Thursday - Creekview HS band parent and student meeting.  Creekview HS auditorium, 6:00-7:30pm.  (www.creekviewband.org)

- Symphonic, concert, cadet audition results posted by this date.

June 4 (3-6pm), Thursday - School instrument check-out for the summer.  You may also be able to receive some music and the August practice schedule.  (Sooner if possible)

CD RECORDINGS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This concert will be recorded. All band performances will be included on the CD. Cost is $5 (includes tax). Checks should be made payable to "DFLBC". This recording is being made by the staff so all proceeds will go to the Dan F. Long band lesson scholarship fund.  Orders must be turned in no later than Monday, June 2.  Please be sure the student's name is on the memo line of the check.

The CD will include the Symphonic Band at the DC Festival and/or UIL, Concert Band at the DC Festival and /or UIL, Cadet Band, Sixth Grade Band, and some of the new selections from Concert and Symphonic Bands performance on the May 27 concert.

This information is subject to change.  More information will be announced at the concerts May 16 and 27.

SCHOOL INSTRUMENT RETURN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Contrabass Clarinet, Tuba, Baritone, Euphonium, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, and miscellaneous others)

If you have a school instrument at home, it needs to be returned the night of the concert to the band hall. Be sure your name is on the case! Other school instruments will be checked the day following the concert.  Instruments must be returned May 27 or 28 since the repairman will be checking all instruments.

If you have any outstanding fees before the end of school.

If you will be at Dan F. Long next year, you may checkout an instrument for the summer on June 4 (WED.) after 3:00 (tentative).  We will try to have these ready sooner. 

POOL PARTY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THIS INFORMATION IS NOT DEFINITE AT THIS TIME...The pool party date is Friday, May 29, 6-8pm  at Rosemeade.  6th gd. brass and percussion bring a bag of chips; 6th grade clarinets bring cups; 6th grade flute/oboe/basson bring cookies; 7th & 8th grade band members bring one liter of soft drink. The fee is $1 per student/child with a maximum of $4 per family. Parents are admitted FREE.

This is a closed party.   Band/choir/orchestra members may attend. 

Immediate family (brothers/sisters) in the same home may attend only if a parent is present at the pool.

AUDITION TAPES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember 6th & 7th grade audition tapes are due May 19.  (Symphonic applications turn-in by the deadline of the tape.)
